I thought driving cars sideways were just a myth concocted by Kosuke Fujishima for his Manga, “Taiho Shichauzo” (aka “You’re Under Arrest” - my favorite anime of all time!). They were just one of the amazing things that I wish I could do with a car like Miyuki’s uber cool souped up Honda Fit. That and knowing what to do with a car just by listenig to the engine’s sound.
Seeing this photo made me miss the drifting scene. I love the angle of how it was taken it tells a lot more than the usual eye level photographs. I can hear the engine’s sound, the screeching of the tires and the awkward sensation the smell of burnt rubber gives your nose. A sort of stuffy warm burnt rubber smell.
The drifters in this photo are Atsushi Kuroi (leading) and Youichi Imamura. Sadly, Kuroi san passed away last night from a motorbike accident. May he rest in peace in God’s Kingdom.
